Last week marked six months since I stepped into the role of directing marketing efforts at Ken's. It's been an exciting and transformative journey, filled with personal growth, professional development, and the privilege of contributing to a company so deeply invested in its people and its community.
Investing in Development
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Ken's is their commitment to employee growth. From day one, they encouraged me to expand my skills and network by participating in Leadership Grand Island, Discover Grand Island, and Marketech in Kearney. Each program has provided valuable insights into leadership, marketing trends, and the local business landscape.

These experiences have not only strengthened my professional abilities but also deepened my connection to the community.

Celebrating Success
Over the past six months, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing our general manager, Meridith, earn well-deserved recognition for her outstanding leadership. She has been honored with multiple awards, including Ken's winning Best of Grand Island, Leadership Grand Island's Outstanding Program Support Partner of the Year, and her personal achievement as BrandSource Woman of the Year.

What a testament to the dedication and passion that drive Ken's forward, making it more than just a business—it’s a pillar of the community!
Expanding My Skillset
In just six months, my role at Ken's has pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect—and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve had the chance to dive into all kinds of new skills, including:
Managing broadcasting deadlines and keeping campaigns running smoothly and on time.
Writing radio scripts that capture Ken's personality and connect with our listeners.
Designing HTML5 motion ads that add a little extra flair and grab attention.
Running programmatic ad campaigns to reach the right people at the right time.
Sending email drips and bulk texts to keep our customers in the loop with meaningful updates.
Planning events, like our upcoming Tent Sale, which has been a fun and rewarding challenge.
Making tough budgeting calls to maximize our impact while staying smart with our spending.
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on the past six months, I am proud of the progress made but even more excited for the future. With the continued support of Ken's and the incredible team around me, I look forward to pushing the boundaries of creativity, strengthening our brand presence, and delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.

It’s been a whirlwind of learning, and I’m excited to keep building on these skills as we head into the next chapter!
